Do you feel the change in the air?
School is back in session. The sun is going down earlier and earlier. You might be waking up and its still dark out. Fall is just on the horizon and running out to greet us. Whether you love or hate this season, you may be curious about what there is to do around Salt Lake County. In our mission to help you love your new home, we at Garbett Homes want to help you learn a little bit more about the fun things you can do to have a little fun in Salt Lake County.

The Utah State Fair
Running from September 5th – 15th, the Utah State Fair is about more than celebrating Utah’s agricultural heritage. Although it is part of the experience and worth taking the time to learn about. Concerts, rides, butter sculptures and a wide selection of delicious food are also part of the experience. Everyone should experience this event once in their lives and as we mentioned last year, it’s one of the perfect ways to say farewell to summer and hello to fall.

Haunted Houses
When you’re talking about fun in the fall, of course you need to give the season of fear its laurels. After all, everyone must face fear during some time in their life. Being able to handle fear is an important skill to develop. And what better way to sharpen those skills than a visit to a haunted house? Salt Lake County has three venues to choose from. Fear Factory in downtown Salt Lake City, is a popular complex of 6 buildings full of frights and thrills. You can even see it off I-15 with all the ghoulish graffiti adorning the walls. While the rival Nightmare on 13th located in Salt Lake City’s ballpark neighborhood puts on its own popular and frightful experiences. Midvale’s Castle of Chaos rounds out this trio of terrifying attractions. Running from the start of September until Halloween, be sure to add a dose of frights to your fall delights.

Marmalade Jam Fest
Don’t let the name fool you. This isn’t just about delightful fruit preserves to spread on your toast. The 10th annual Marmalade Jam Fest is celebration of arts and music in Salt Lake City’s oldest residential district (the Marmalade district). Enjoy free music, vendors  and of course a preserves competition. Happening September 21st at the Marmalade Plaza by the Marmalade Library, this is an event that shouldn’t be missed.
