Welcome to Utah.
If you are reading this article, you are probably planning to move to the wonderful Beehive State, Utah. Welcome, with that in mind, Garbett Homes has prepared a small primer on some of what your life will be like when you buy a new home in Utah.
Who Will My Neighbors Be?
Your neighbors are likely to be different than what you would initially expect when moving to Utah. Our state’s young median age means that Utah is home to a mix of young professionals, outdoor enthusiasts, and a surprisingly large contingent of fantasy/sci-fi fans in addition to the family-oriented crowd you might know us for. It is safe to say that when you put yourself out there you will find friends in Utah.
What is there to do for fun in Utah?
Utah is a natural playground, we are home to five national parks, 2 national monuments, and 43 state parks. There are plenty of places for hiking, hunting, fishing, off-roading and of course skiing throughout Utah. You likely already knew that however, so let’s go deeper. Utah is also home to several museums, a planetarium, an aquarium, and a zoo; giving you and your family plenty of opportunities to engage with educating entertainment. Or if the arts are more your style, there are symphonies, operas, playhouses, and ballets all easily available to you for a high-end date night. If the nerdy side of life is more your scene, Utah is home to the interactive fantasy world experience Evermore Park, several comic book/gaming hobby stores, and of course, Salt Lake FanX. The only reason that buying a new home in Utah should lead to you being bored is because you’re not looking hard enough. Yes, I know I sound like your mother, no, I’m not sorry.
What About Sports?
There is so much when it comes to athletic scene in Utah that sports gets its own section. For the sports fan that moves to Utah they have a glut of options. You may already know about Utah’s love affair with the Utah Jazz, and our major league summer darling, Real Salt Lake and of course our living legacy from the 2002 Winter Olympics. What you may not know is that Utah also offers, Triple-A Baseball with the Salt Lake Bees, minor league hockey with the Utah Grizzlies, Major League Rugby with the Utah Warriors, D-1 Collegiate Athletics throughout the state from the seven universities that call Utah home, and we are expecting women’s soccer to return in 2024 with the NWSL’s Utah Royals SC.
