One of the continued misconceptions people have about living in Utah is that there isn’t much to do if you don’t like the great outdoors. This can’t be further from the truth. While we do love our amazing hiking trails and ski slopes. Salt Lake City has plenty to offer homebuyers looking to recreate away from the woods. As we continue to prepare for our upcoming community, Azure Place, we would like to offer a sampling of seven places where you can have some cozy city fun.
Delta Center
Home of the Utah Jazz, this legendary arena has hosted the NBA Finals, NBA All-Star Games, Olympic Figure Skating, concerts of all kinds, monster truck rallies, and more. Everyone living in the Salt Lake Valley should experience attending this venue at least once in their lives. And the variety of events hosted throughout the year all but guarantees something will pique your interest.
The Depot
The Delta Center is not the only concert venue in Downtown Salt Lake City. The Depot is a smaller concert venue that allows discerning music fans to enjoy performances from acts that might not fill up a stadium. Located in a remodeled Union Pacific depot station, you will also enjoy an atmosphere that celebrates Utah’s past while looking towards its present. There are few better places to decompress after a wild work week in Downtown Salt Lake City. Located in The Gateway, an outdoor mall, this venue is easily accessible by Trax, car, or on foot when you live in Downtown Salt Lake City.
The Natural History Museum of Utah
Education and recreation are not mutually exclusive. In fact, self-driven learning is an important way to keep your brain healthy. Which is why The Natural History Museum of Utah is a great place to visit. Located on the campus of the University of Utah, this museum offers exhibitions on zoology, archaeology, paleontology, and so much more. Whether for a date night, an adventure with friends, or just for yourself, there’s plenty to learn at this amazing museum. And with rotating exhibits there will be plenty of reasons to return and learn more.
Clark Planetarium
Do you like stargazing? Looking up at the night sky and feeling awestruck by the immensity of the universe? Why not bring yourself closer to those stars and planets you hold so dear with an evening at the Planetarium. While this venue is geared more towards families and school children, there is still so much to see that will take any space nerd’s breath away. Part of The Gateway you can combine this visit with other outings, or just make a day out of this one location.
The Gateway & City Creek
If your idea of recreation is shopping, Salt Lake City definitely has you covered with two outdoor malls. Along with the attractions we’ve already mentioned, The Gateway offers its guests restaurants and shopping experiences sure for all to enjoy. While just south of Temple Square resides City Creek. A place where upscale shopping and family favorites mingle together. Both of these outdoor malls offer you a chance to shop till you drop and still be home by bedtime.
Eccles Theater
Located a short walk from City Creek this venue is a must visit for those that love the performing arts. Whether you love dance companies, plays, intimate concerts or standup acts Eccles Theater has hosted them all. This can’t miss venue is sure to feed your creativity and expand your world view. All without needing a hotel stay to do it.
The Broadway Theater
From being a favorite filming location of legendary Western film director John Ford, to the Sundance Film Festival, Utah loves the movies and the movies love Utah. If you will accept no substitutes for the theatrical experience, the Salt Lake Film Society has you covered with their Broadway Theater. Screening both blockbusters and independent films the world of cinema is opened up to you with the Salt Lake Film Society.
